The Lichening is an online literary journal focusing on our encounters with more-than-human lives and worlds. Our mission is to build partnerships – across genres, communities, specializations, and species. We seek to bring relevant literature to ecologically-engaged communities, and to bring the work of those communities into the world of literature. Put simply, we believe that plant people, witches, and park rangers should know about more poets than just Mary Oliver and whoever’s going viral right now.
